President's Message

It's 2024 and WE ARE BACK and Proud to Present this year's 166th Markdale Fall Fair "Our Story Our Community". A Huge Thank you to our Senior Ambassador - Sydney Martin, Junior Ambassador - Elsie LeMaitre, my fellow board members, Ag Society Members, and the local community for your continued and unwavering support.

The Society received a lot of positive feedback on our 2022 & 2023 Fall Fairs. Building on that success, we again are planning some special events leading up to the Fair and on Fair day to celebrate agriculture in Grey County and beyond.
Like our Facebook page or check out our new Website at markdaleagsociety.ca as announcements are published. Admission to the 2024 Markdale Fall Fair will again be by donation. I look forward to seeing you all on Friday evening, August 23rd for our opening ceremonies and again on the 24th for a fun filled day.

Kindest Regards

Wayne Shier, President

Elsie LeMaitre - Junior Ambassador's Message

Junior Ambassador - Elsie LeMaitre

As Markdale’s Fall Fair Junior Ambassador of 2023/2024, my experience was absolutely amazing. I got to participate in a little bit of everything at the fair. I really enjoyed handing out ribbons and prizes with Sydney, the Senior Ambassador.

Sydney and I also got to participate in the opening of Dundalk Fall Fair. We also participated in the painting fundraiser night that Megan hosted.

I went to the fall district meeting and met a whole bunch of Ambassadors. We all went to the water bottling factory in Feversham and after that we went to a church and made crafts. It was a really great time to get to know everyone.

I had so much fun the night of the Markdale Christmas Parade, and a big thank you to Craig who decorated the Christmas float. It looked amazing

This year Markdale is hosting the Spring District Meeting. I can not wait to see everyone again, and have another delicious meal.

A big thank you to all the Markdale Agriculture Volunteers. Everyone has been so kind and have done so much to make this such a wonderful experience.

I encourage everyone to come to this year's fall fair. And if you want to have a fun year, having great experiences and meeting new people you should definitely participate in the ambassador competition.

I wish the 2024/2025 Ambassadors good luck.

Sydney Martin - Senior Ambassador's Message

Senior Ambassador - Sydney Martin

Thanks is a very big word, and I have a lot of thanks.

This year would not have been what it was without a lot of support. A huge thank you to Megan Teeter for encouraging me to run for this title and encouraging me to enjoy each and every moment of it. Megan accompanied me to the OAAS convention this year, and it was great fun to have her there.

There were so many things that have happened in this short time and I have really enjoyed getting to see the organizational side of the fair again. From our paint night fundraiser, to meetings and planning, I appreciate so much what this society does to bring the fair to life each year. Thanks for being an inspiring bunch that keeps such a history alive in our community.

Thanks to those who have reached out with notes of congratulations and encouragement in my time as Ambassador.

Thanks again to the society, for allowing me to take part when ever and where ever I could while I have been away at school.

Thanks to my sidekick Elsie for stepping up when I couldn't be home for the fall district meeting and the Santa parade in Markdale. You are such an eager counterpart and are certainly destined for great things!
Thanks to the community of Markdale for being such a wonderful area to represent and talk about during my outings. I am proud to call this my hometown and proud to be part of such a rich heritage.

Thanks most of all to my family and friends who have been by my side at events and have generally supported me as I enjoyed this ride.

To the 2024 Markdale Fair Ambassador, soak in every aspect of this experience, you will never regret it. And thanks for stepping up to represent this wonderful area that I love to call home!

Sydney Martin
