PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It’s 2023 and WE ARE BACK and Proud to Present this year’s Markdale Fall Fair “165 Years – Our Strength is our Roots”. A Huge Thank you to our Senior Ambassador – Megan Teeter, Junior Ambassador – Jaiden Stull, my fellow Board Members, Ag Society Members, and the local community for your continued and unwavering support. This year we celebrate 165 years of presenting the Markdale Fall Fair… an impressive milestone to say the least. The Society received a lot of positive feedback on our 2022 Fair. Building on last year’s success, we are planning some special events leading up to the fair and on Fair day to celebrate 165 Years of promoting Agriculture. Like our Facebook Page or check out our Website as announcements are published. Admission to the 2023 Markdale Fall Fair will again be by donation. I look forward to seeing you all on Friday evening, August 25, 2023 for our opening ceremonies.
Kindest regards
Wayne Shier, President
Markdale Agricultural Society
Megan Teeter – Senior Ambassador’s Message
As Senior Ambassador of the Markdale Fall Fair 2022-23, my year was filled with amazing opportunities and memories. It started off with the weekend of our Markdale Fall Fair, meeting new people and attending events with my Junior, Jaiden. My duties as Senior Ambassador involved attending the Fall and Spring District Meetings where we participated in team building exercises and met other District Ambassadors. As the year continued, Jaiden and I attended other local fairs, and the Markdale Parade.
I had the pleasure to attend the OAAS Convention in Richmond Hill, where I learned more about agriculture and how to incorporate new ideas into our fair. Due to this experience of the OAAS Convention, I decided to become a member of the Markdale Agricultural Society Board, and attend the monthly meetings, where we brainstorm and discuss upcoming fundraising events and prepare for the Markdale Fall Fair in August. During my time as the Markdale Fall Fair Senior Ambassador 2022-23 and Junior Ambassador 2016-17, I appreciate all the opportunities and events I have had the privilege to attend, as it taught me many life lessons and prepared me for future public speaking. If you see me during our fair weekend as I pass down my title, come say Hi and enjoy the 165th Markdale Fall Fair!
Jaiden Stull – Junior Ambassador’s Message
My time as 2022/2023 Junior Ambassador was absolutely amazing. Along with Senior Ambassador Megan we had many great experiences. We attended the Markdale Christmas parade and the Dundalk Fair opening.
We went to 2 ambassador meetings. At the first meeting we went to the Launch Pad in Hanover and learned a few new life skills. Like how to change a tire and how to sew. At the second meeting we went to Teeswater and did some line dancing and elevator pitches/speech practice.
Of course the best part was at the Markdale Fall Fair where we got to hand out all the ribbons and prizes. I would like to wish next year’s junior ambassador good luck and hope you enjoy your year as much I did.
